COVID-19 2023 Booster

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

As you may have heard in the media over the last two days ATAGI has recommended a 2023 COVID-19 booster dose. We currently do not have a lot of stock of the vaccine on hand and have placed an order which is due to arrive in late February.

Please see the criteria for this booster is as follows: ATAGI recommends a 2023 COVID-19 vaccine booster dose for adults in the following groups, if their last COVID-19 vaccine dose or confirmed infection (whichever is the most recent) was 6 months ago or longer, and regardless of the number of prior doses received:

  • All adults aged 65 years and over; and

  • Adults aged 18-64 years who have medical comorbidities that increase their risk of severe COVID-19, or disability with significant or complex health needs.

ATAGI advises the following groups should consider a 2023 booster dose if their last COVID-19 vaccine dose or confirmed infection (whichever is the most recent) was 6 months ago or longer, and regardless of the number of prior doses received, based on an individual risk benefit assessment with their immunisation provider.

  • All adults aged 18-64 years without risk factors for severe COVID-19; and

  • Children and adolescents aged 5-17 years who have medical comorbidities that increase their risk of severe COVID-19, or disability with significant or complex health needs.

ATAGI advises that a booster dose is not recommended at this time for children and adolescents aged under the age of 18 who do not have any risk factors for severe COVID-19.

We are currently offering COVID-19 boosters (Moderna Bivalent) to those aged 18 and over. We will be offering Covid-19 boosters (Pfizer Bivalent) to those aged 12 – 17, at risk with medical comorbidities from mid-March, when there is supply. We do not have access to the vaccine for 5 – 11 year olds. We recommend you click here to find a location that provides this particular booster. To help those who have children aged 5 - 17 with medical comorbidities understand the eligibility criteria, please refer to the table below (noting this information was from July, 2022).

Vaccination sessions will more than likely be offered during the week until 5:00pm, and possibly later on Mondays and Tuesdays. If demand is great we may also look to add Saturday morning sessions.

Appointments can be booked via the button below. If no appointments are showing, please look again at another time as we’ll be adding sessions as we go based on demand and vaccine availability.
